Welcome from the Dean

Theatre is the shared act of imagination

between actor and audience. It encompasses literature, visual spectacle and music, but all lead to and support the moment when an actor speaks and the audience listens. Theatre allows us as individuals and as a society to consider our past, examine our present and rehearse our future.

The USC School of Theatre encourages students to explore their creative possibilities fully. The breadth of learning opportunities we offer prepares students for the spectrum of careers in the professional theatre, including performance, playwriting, production, design and teaching. The School of Theatre also strives to instill confidence, integrity, excellence and artistic sensitivity into each of our students -- traits that are essential in any field.

Thanks to the caliber of our students and faculty, the USC School of Theatre is ranked as one of the top theatre schools in the United States. Graduates of the school work professionally in all aspects of theatre, film and television. The School's faculty are dynamic teachers who also work regularly in the theatre and entertainment industry.

The USC School of Theatre is significantly enhanced by being located in Los Angeles. Theatre professionals frequently teach seminars, mentor students and participate in School productions.

We appreciate your interest in the school and its programs. Whether you are a prospective student, alumnus or patron, welcome to this site. I am sure you will find much to interest you.
