In addition to programs of assistance administered by the
Financial Aid Office, the School of Theatre offers a number
of special scholarships for both undergraduate and
graduate students . These scholarships are reserved
for students who have completed a minimum of one year as a
theatre major at USC, and are granted based on a combination
of merit and talent as determined by the dean and a faculty
selection committee in the School of Theatre. Please contact admissions
with any questions.
The John Ritter Memorial Award honors the
theatre student who has given the most outstanding comic performance
during the season.
The David Dukes Memorial Scholarship honors
the late actor David Dukes and is presented to a senior B.A.
or B.F.A. acting student who shows exemplary dedication to
the craft of acting.
The Ava Greenwald Memorial Award is endowed
by family and friends in memory of Ava Greenwald, a graduate
of the MFA program. It is an annual award for the outstanding
undergraduate actor as selected by a professional panel of
judges.
The Jack Nicholson Award was endowed by
the actor to provide two annual performance awards to the
outstanding actor and actress.
The Stanley Musgrove Award was endowed by
the late Mr. Musgrove to provide an annual performance award
to the student who has shown the most outstanding creative
talent.
The Aileen Stanley Memorial Award provides
two annual scholarships for graduate theatre students.
The John Blankenchip/William C. White Scholarship is provided by a group of alumni to provide two
annual awards to the students who have made an outstanding
contribution to the School of Theatre.
The James B. Pendleton Award provides one
annual award to a student who has made an outstanding contribution
to the School of Theatre.
The Ruth and Albert McKinlay Award was endowed
by the late Ruth McKinlay, an alumna of the School of Theatre,
to provide an annual scholarship for the BA student with the
highest GPA and to an outstanding BA performer.
The James and Nony Doolittle Awards were
endowed by the late James A. Doolittle, Los Angeles' leading
theatrical producer, to assist graduates in making the transition
from the university to the profession. Each year, four or
more monetary awards are given to students upon graduation
from the BA, BFA and MFA programs based on cumulative work
during their period of study in the school.
The Student Council Award was established
by the Student Council of the School of Theatre to honor a
graduating senior who has been recognized by their peers for
their contributions to the school.
The Nancy Kehr Reed Memorial Production Fund
was established by the Kehr family to provide financial support
for independent student productions, including the creation
of new plays and musicals.
