Your interest in supporting the USC School of Theatre is appreciated. There are many ways to give.
Donors to the USC School of Theatre may be recognized in a variety of ways, from listings in the programs distributed at our student productions and in our newsletter, Callboard, to named scholarships and endowed chairs -- even to naming the School itself.
The Impact of Your Gift
People give to make good things possible. Donors to the USC School of Theatre are no exception. They believe that theatre offers performer and audience alike a necessary joy, and fills the eyes and ears with understanding, perspective, insight and grace. Theatre provides a communal connection to the human spirit. People give to the USC School of Theatre because they believe there is beauty in what our students create, will create, and indeed must create.
Gifts make scholarships possible, gifts make it possible to hire talented faculty, and gifts make enhanced facilities possible. Gifts will fuel the School’s move from excellence to greatness. Whether your gift supports the Dean’s Strategic Initiative Fund, or supports scholarships, or supports a project of special interest, each and every gift is important and appreciated.
USC Friends of Theatre
A gift of any amount enrolls the donor as a member of USC Friends of Theatre. All donors are acknowledged in the Donor Marquee published in Callboard unless no recognition is requested. Gifts of $1,000 or more are also acknowledged in the playbills for the School’s season of shows.

Endowment and Naming Gifts
Today the School’s endowment is valued at $12.2 million, twice the amount given by donors over the years. Endowment gifts are very powerful for this very reason—they continue to grow while still providing operating support.
The School’s endowment will yield nearly $500,000 next year to help support scholarships, faculty compensation, and several special projects. An even greater amount will be reinvested to keep our portfolio growing. Over the past 25 years, the USC endowment has averaged a 12.5 percent return. As the endowment principal continues to grow, so does the income available to be spent.
With undergraduate tuition set at $38,570 for 2009-2010, and total annual costs estimated at $52,000 the need for a much larger endowment is clear. More information about special giving opportunities (such as naming a scholarship, a chair, or a program) is available from the School’s Development Office.
