Oliver Mayer is the author of BLADE TO THE HEAT, which premiered at the Public Theater in New York City. The revised version premiered on the Mark Taper Forum mainstage and subsequent productions have taken place in San Francisco, Chicago and Mexico City. DARK MATTERS, his newest play, will receive its world premiere at San Diego Repertory in the 2008/09 season. LAWS OF SYMPATHY will receive its world premiere at Playwrights Arena in October. CONJUNTO received its world premiere at Borderlands, Tucson in April 2006, and opened the fall 2006 season at the Playwrights Arena in Los Angeles. RAGGED TIME received its world premiere at the Black Dahlia Theatre, and was previously presented at the Royal Court Theatre, London and the Taper New Work Festival. JOE LOUIS BLUES received its world premiere in San Francisco, and was subsequently produced in Los Angeles and Atlanta. Other plays include YOUNG VALIANT, JOY OF THE DESOLATE, THE ROAD TO LOS ANGELES, BANANAS AND PEACHFUZZ, BOLD AS LOVE, THE RIGHTING MOMENT, DIAS Y FLORES and ROCIO! A PESAR DE TODO, a one-person piece written for Marlene Forte. He is the recipient of a Gerbode Grant to write the libretto for AMERICA TROPICAL, a new opera composed by David Conte. He is a graduate of Cornell and Columbia Universities and attended Worcester College, Oxford. His literary archive can be accessed through Stanford University Libraries. THE HURT BUSINESS: A CRITICAL PORTFOLIO OF THE EARLY WORKS OF OLIVER MAYER, PLUS, is published by Hyperbole Books; OLIVER MAYER: COLLECTED WORKS is published by NoPassport Books. He is the screenwriter for DARE TO LOVE ME, a movie about the life of tango singer Carlos Gardel, which begins principal photography in May 2008. Alfonso Arau directs and the film stars Raoul Bova and Lindsay Lohan. He is also a recent winner of a USC Zumberge Award for the creation of a new original six-play cycle.
